Start with a fast 7-check deposit-risk score before you leave the rental depot, then use the free 20-point Rental Camper Pickup Checklist for the more detailed handover.

Score 1 point for every YES:

1. Four-side evidence: clear photos of the front, rear and both sides of the camper.
2. Damage-prone areas: wheels, windscreen, mirrors, bumpers, awning and other vulnerable areas photographed.
3. Existing damage: every scratch, dent, crack or defect has a close-up and a wider context photo.
4. Rental-company record: important existing damage is reported using the rental company's required process and, where possible, acknowledged.
5. Dashboard proof: odometer, fuel level and relevant warning lights or readings photographed.
6. Systems check: water, toilet, fridge, heating/hot water, power, windows/locks and fitted accessories checked or demonstrated.
7. Return rules: you know the return time, fuel level, cleaning/waste requirements and how faults or damage must be reported.

Score: 7/7 = strong start. 5–6/7 = fill the evidence gaps. 0–4/7 = slow down and complete the missing checks before driving away.
